2012 theme question

    I finally used enough CSS to get the 2012 theme to look like I want in some areas with some help from the CSS team. One further question:

    I’m looking to keep a small three sentence sticky post with one left-justified thumbnail on the home page; if I use the “stick it on the front page” option on (which is only available in the advanced features of the new improved post screen), that is all that comes up when if you simply access my page from scratch.

    I’m hoping to have a “home page” that will show about half the screen with the sticky post and my most recent posts right under it (at least on tablets and laptops-understanding phones may be too small for that)

    Is it possible to create a sticky post that only appears as the first post on a home page and I’ll ensure it’s small enough so as not to take up the entire page?

    If this question is better in the support forum, please let me know and I will repost

    Thanks

    If you create a sticky post it will be pinned to the top of your homepage but, like any other post, you can click on the title and view that post as a single page. I think this is where you are running into problems!

    If that’s something you can cope with then just marking it as sticky should be enough.

    Otherwise, as long as it’s only text and an image you want to include (no links or complicated styling) you could use CSS to generate the content like so:

    .home #masthead:after {
      height:80px;
      display:block;
      margin-top:50px;
      padding-left:100px;
      content:"This is my extra content! 000a Second line! 000a Third line which goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on!";
      white-space:pre;
      line-height:1.71429em;
      background:url("http://placehold.it/80x80") no-repeat left center;
    }

    You’ll need to replace the “000a” bits with the following (removing the spaces), I forgot that the forum would eat up the proper formatting!
