2025 free options

Hello, does anyone know what free themes are best for 2025 please? I want to update my template from a ten year old site and not pay extra. I like simple, easy to use themes.

Check out, https://wordpress.com/themes/free for a selection of free themes.
Every year, the WordPress team creates a new Theme, https://wordpress.com/theme/twentytwentyfive you can use this theme and then add the blocks you need and customise as you please!

Hi, if you prefer using the Classic Editor rather than the Block one, you can search for only those free themes that support it.
In the search box above the horizontal list of theme recommendations by type-of-site, type in
CLASSIC THEME
This will filter out any free themes that do not support the Classic Editor. The Classic Themes can also be used with the Block Editor; the difference is that the Classic Themes will give you the option to use either.
I recommend that you select “All” in the horizontal styles list, and then “Free” in the dropdown menu. Just because a theme is being advertised for a specific use, doesn’t mean it won’t be fine for any other type. For example, I have a separate personal blog here and I am using a Free theme there that is targeted toward a Restaurant, lol. I would not have seen it in the results if I had only selected “blog” in the horizontal blog-type options, rather than “All”. But the layout and style of that theme is exactly what I was looking for, for my personal blog site.

Thank you: I tried a few themes yesterday and settled on the 2025 option, so seeing your message now is a nice affirmation! I am slow at all this kind of work, but it is great that options exist that a person with no expertise can manage. Appreciate you taking the time to reply.
