$25 Upgrade Refund

Dear reader,
I was automatically upgraded for Domain Registration ($5.00), Private Registration ($8.00), and Domain Mapping ($12.00). While the service would be great to have, both websites are currently inactive and I am not in the position to purchase this service financially.
WordPress.com sent me previous e-mails which stated newworldscholar.com would be renewed. The email did not clarify what the charges were for nor did it define what was meant by the term “renew.”
I was under the assumption that the email was strictly related to “newworldscholar.com,” not “newworldscholar.wordpress.com.” I did make the silly assumption that WordPress.com had obtained hosting privileges from Host Gator and Registered my Domain from Wild West Domains. If I had thought otherwise I would have contacted you sooner before that upgrade purchase had gone through.
I made a mistake and I have learned from it. If in the future I can afford your services I will gladly purchase them. At this time, I am a recent graduate with over $25,000 in student loans that I need to repay. I realize that I am somewhat at fault for this situation. But I do not think I should be forced to pay the consequences for a minor mistake. I would really appreciate a refund for the services listed above.

The renewal was for the domain name newworldscholar.com
This domain name is directed to Host Gator, but it is still registered through us as the registration was never transferred away.
If I refund the renewal, I will need to cancel the domain and cannot guarantee that you’ll be able to re-register it.
If you no longer want the domain newworldscholar.com, please reply to confirm.

According to this statement. The domain registration was updated on 7/7/2012 which makes sense. But it says that newworldscholar.com is registered through WildWestDomains. It mentions nothing about WordPress. Why is this so?

The update you’re referring to is the renewal payment.

Well alright. I wish I had known that! This makes a lot more sense now.
I understand the domain registration and the private registration. I definitely want to keep newworldscholar.com registered.
But is domain mapping really necessary if newworldscholar.wordpress.com is inactive?

Domain mapping is actually part of the domain registration package and cannot be separated.
