2.7 SUCKS

Am I the only one who can’t find a ‘visit site’ link from the dashboard?
Thanks to anyone who can point the way–
-
juliedemboski – you can simply click the title of your blog in your admin header area. If you hover over the link, you will see “Visit Site”.

I couldn’t find the “visit site” link either (although bubel just explained it), but where’s the link to the forums? I got here in a very roundabout way, leaving a trail of breadcrumbs.

Didn’t like the new layout for posting. The menus consume most than the half space of my screen on laptop. Was more useful having the menu on the top. 2.6 had sidebars that were more compact and wasted less space.
Why highlight the menu putting to left consuming a lot of space if it is less important than my post itself? In a few words: I hated the new layout. Would be nice to have a option to switch back to the previous layout. -
Is there an option to revert to the previous version? I found it much cleaner and easier to use.
-
@distilledmag, you should be able to upload a PDF just like before. Click the add media button, then click the “select files” button, navigate to the file on your computer and then upload it. Again though, things may be a little wacky for a few hours.
-
Sucks? Why? Because you can customize your Dashboard and get rid of items you don’t need? Because you get rid of a lot of scrolling? Because of the fewer-clicks access? Because you can now bulk edit posts, pages, categories and tags?
@ruedeseine: You find the previous version easier after 6 months with it and ONE HOUR with the new? Come on…

SO i have a qustion. I’m trying to post a Word document, however, when doing so it’s not showing up as a hyperlink. Any help?
-
Sure, there might be many things that have gotten much easier. And I appreciate being able to move things around the screen. However, items have become wider and now consume more space. Less space is available for what really matters: my text. Sure, this is not an issue on a 19′ wide screen. And what about people blogging on a laptop?
I really think that the 3rd column (the navigation column on the left) was not a good idea at all, it wastes precios space to always show something that I use once or another time. Before 2.7, the navigation menu was on the top and I simply ignored it because I scrolled down to the content that matters.
If it were possible the move the navegation column around (to the top) everything would be fine for me.

What title to my blog? There’s nothing to indicate it’s my blog except for the previous posts that I recognize.
-
I’ve already pruned my dashboard main page of all but two sections. I also like being able to get rid of unused elements in the write post and page pages – things I never use. I also like that I can grab the blue title bars and arrange things by drag and drop the way I want them.
That said, not everyone is going to like the new interface. That is normal.
-
At the top of the main dashboard page (or any page in your admin area), click on the title of your blog at upper left to the right of the wordpress “W” graphic to view your blog. If you do not see it, then try logging out, clearing your browser cache and cookies, restarting your browser and then logging back in.

I’m using my almost brand-new MacBookPro and the screen is wider than tall. Menus seem more efficient on the left and right than they were on top. More space for writing! As much as I love the glass touchpad on the mbp, there is also less need to scroll down to access categories and tags when they are right there on one screen.

Thanks for the idea of moving things on “my dashboard.” That works great: I can see what I want right away. -
And that answers danielferber: You can drag items so that they are BELOW your post editor, and have two columns instead of three.
