28 hours for processing and still not there

  • Unknown's avatar

Videos I have uploaded recently have been showing as “being processed” for up to 28 hours.

The files are showing as having been uploaded

It is 5 hours since I queried this with support. Got confirmation of you receiving my support query but no one has answered.

I see there are a number of posts re this.

    Thanks

  • Hello,

I apologize for the slow processing times. I am looking into this now, testing it myself. My first test on my own blog was a 50mb .mov file taken with an iPhone, which took a few minutes to upload, and was finished processing within about a minute. I am in the process of testing with one of your video files to see if I run into the same issue that you ran into.

You may have faster processing times if you try uploading a different file format. VideoPress can convert many formats, but it prefers h.264 video with AAC audio. One of our engineers recommends a product called MPEG Streamclip as a great way for Mac and Windows users to convert their videos if their format is not compatible with VideoPress: http://www.squared5.com/

The videos should not take several hours to process, so I think this is just a matter of some incompatibility between formats. I will let you know what we find as I continue to test your files, and we will let you know if we find a workaround. Please also let us know if you find success by converting your file formats.

    Best,

    Bob

    Hi Bob,

    Thanks Bob.
The videos are in the same format from the same computer, same editing programme ie identical as the vast majority of the other seventy plus I have uploaded recently. Now videopress does not want to process them anymore. I am working exceptionally long hours at the moment to hit the deadline on this project and another launching, so don’t have the time to re exporting and reuploading unless I really have to? Especially when getting near my space limit. Does H264 make bigger files ie take more space or less?

The re exporting and re uploading clogs up my computer for hours.

  • Hello

I was able to successfully upload one of your videos (lost his mummy railway terrace) to my own test blog. I wouldn’t call it fast, but the process (uploading and processing) took under an hour. So I wouldn’t say it’s the file format. I’m frankly not sure what the issue is. Although, before I uploaded the video, I changed the extension from .mpeg to .mpg, because otherwise I was unable to drag the file into the upload box. It’s possible that was the case. It’s possible that was the issue, but I’m not positive.

It looks like there are only four problem videos right now, is that correct? For now if you don’t mind I will try uploading them to your blog myself to see if I have better luck for some reason. Please let me if you have any concerns about me doing that.

    Bob

  • Oh, and I’ll watch your space… I want to make sure the files can upload correctly first before I get rid of the ones that don’t seem to be working.

That would be great thanks Bob. Giving up for night now as I start again in a few hours. Appreciate your help.

  • I’m still working on this. My versions didn’t work either. I’ve bumped up your space by 10gb to see if maybe the issue was because you were fairly close to your limit. I’m re-processing the videos now.

  • Hello again,

One of our engineers found an issue in one of the servers that processes uploaded videos. I wasn’t running into this with my test blog because it was routed through a different server. He has corrected the issue and re-processed the affected videos. I’ve tested your videos and they are working correctly now… both the ones you originally uploaded and the ones I uploaded tonight.

Again I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. I bumped up your storage space by 10gb as part of my testing, and that upgrade will remain on your account for another year.

Let us know if you need any other assistance or have any other questions.

    Cheers,

    Bob
