3 columns on Dyad (mobile breakpoint help)
-
Hey guys… I prefer the 3 column layout for my site but have noticed the breakpoint for 3 columns is very wide which means my site is showing up two column for most folks (including me) and I think it looks bulky. Is it possible to make my site primarily 3 columns for smaller browsers as well?

Hi, I see the site you referenced is using Fontfolio. Did you which to a different theme, or have you not yet switched to Dyad?
I took a look at the Dyad Demo site and played with the CSS, and to keep the 3 column layout down further than the 1600px breakpoint is going to be complex. First off it is going to take a lot of work to do this, and secondly, things go awry at narrower widths. The excerpts end up disappearing for the most part and long words in titles end up getting broken because there isn’t room for them. Here is a screenshot of what happens when you try and do this and as you can see from the number of posts that have the image/content on the wrong size, it is going to take a good bit of CSS to make this look like it does above 1600px (the breakpoint from 3 columns to 2).

Hi Happiness Engineer,
That was what i had been looking for some time. It seems we have to switch to another template to get more columns for the entries.
Thanx again,

@Seyithan, it would be best to consider a different theme if you wish a different number of columns. Dyad is a very complex theme, and you have to override a bunch of existing CSS and then you have to turn around and write new CSS to alternate the layouts on the rows like it is by default. It’s a big job.
