3 ways to get banned?
-
Hi,
The primary resource for my blog is to create value and I don’t want to accidently get banned for something silly someday…
So I have 3 questions-
– Am I allowed to put links to other blogs or websites on my blog?
– Am I allowed to put youtube videos on my blog?
– Am I allowed to write reviews on my blog some day and use affiliate links to help people buy good products?
For your information, I have a wordpress.COM blog routed to my own domain at GoDaddy.
Just wondered how WordPress perceive advertising and what the fine line is between value-laden content and outside links

Adverts and affiliates will get your blog suspended.

And TOS:

By the way, domain mapping does not exempt you in any way from the rules of WordPress.com

You may decide to self-host your blog.

Thank you very for that information Tess – very useful?
How about if I linked to someone else’s blog. Is that allowed?
Or I post a link to a cool story on msn news or something, is that ok?
Youtube?
Thanks

Wow I didn’t proof read that at all!
Sorry for all the errors,
My point was thanks for the feedback, it was very useful. And could you let me know about the other links.
Thanks

It is perfectly acceptable to link to other sites.
There is even a very nice widget to organize your blog-roll!
Linking from articles is fine, but pay attention to “fair use” when featuring snippets of someone else’s work.
Be careful not to break copywrite laws! Don’t post pictures or articles unless you ask permission first and give credit. There are sites to find such things online.
Also, don’t use so many links that your blog becomes only a device to direct readers away from WordPress. Spamming and splogging = NO!
Presumably Youtube allows people to post videos that are not violating any copywrites. But often you will see a video posted on someone’s blog, and see that it has been removed for violations.
