301 help

I did contact last night but i am confused again.

I have my two domains mapped – rebeccapursell.com is my primary one which is the one i want.

twinklehook.co.uk is about to expire, so i am trying to get all my links to re-direct to rebeccapursell.com

Once twinklehook.co.uk expires, if someone clicks a link with that domain will it automatically go to rebeccapursell.com or will i get an error?

I don’t understand the 301 and i can’t do the re-directing on wordpress because it says to pay and when i click to do it, it still won’t allow me to.

SO i asked my OLD domain host and they just sent me a link with that spoke a bunch of codes. I am struggling to understand all of this as i don’t know anything about 301 and what i am supposed to do?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Once a domain name expires, any link referring to that domain name (from search engines or any other website) will show up an error or redirected to the parking page for that domain name. If someone else registers that domain name and uses it to create a site the links will go to that site.

So how do i get my old domain to link with my new one?

  • You need to keep the old domain renewed for (maybe) another year. Gradually as search engines detect the redirect from old domain to the new one, links to the old domain in the search results will be dropped.
