301 manual redirects for pages on Premium or Business
-
I have an existing site teachmetarot.com which is hosted by WordPress.com. It has been in existence since 2012 when I first taught myself the basics of blogging and site development. My site is very large now, over 300 pages. I am now heading towards 7 million views with approx 7 to 8 thousand views a day. Most of my pages receive page 1 ranking with Google.
In the last year I purchased a Premium WordPress Site trulyteachmetarot.com (private at present) and have imported the content from my current one. My original site is still live and I export any new content to my new site to keep it up to date. This new Site will take over later this year. It is more modern in style and I have renamed several pages and menu structure to make it more user friendly and less confusing. There are over 300 pages. I have spent over a year working on it and am now in my second year of paying for this premium site. I have recently found out that when I do the official site redirect it will only redirect the site to the new one, but I have no control over redirecting old page links to the newly named ones. I think this means I will lose all the ranking I have worked hard to build? If so is it gone forever or will it just be a temporary setback?
Does this mean that you can never change the name of any page on your WordPress.com site as it will result in a 404 error for site visitors? Am I stuck with the urls I created back on day one in 2102? I have a lot of pages and have renamed very many of them for the new site which I am paying premium rate for.
If I upgrade again, is there a 301 manual page redirect feature with the Business Package?
Please guys is there a way around this as I really don’t want to have to pack up and leave WordPress just for this reason?
Regards,
Viven
