301 redirect from wordpress.COM to wordpress.ORG, new permalink structure
-
I realize this has been posted many times but I have never seen the answer I need. I need to redirect my old wordpress.COM blog to my new wordpress.ORG blog being hosted on godaddy. Since I can’t access the htaccess files in wordpress.COM, that option is out. I realize there is an upgrade available to buy to redirect .COM to .ORG but if the permalink structure is different it won’t work (indeed, my new structure has no dates which will be much better for SEO). It seems I am stuck! Suggestions??
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I believe the only relevant suggestion is to set the wordpress.org site to the same permalink structure that the .wordpress.com blog has. Then, afterwards you might be able to change it.

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
As you are referring to a site that is not hosted here, if you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right-hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.

Thanks for your response. I thought about that… Could I then perform another 301 redirect within my .ORG site from old permalink structure to new structure? So confusing lol

I do not know that is why I suggested posting to http://wordpress.org/support/

Hi there,
From our documentation on the redirect:
If the new site you’re redirecting to does not use this permalink structure, the redirect will try to find a post on your new site that matches the post URL from your WordPress.com site, but some visitors may see an error message indicating no matching post could be found.
So we try to redirect to the correct post even if the link structure doesn’t match, but we can’t guarantee that it will work. If you edit the permalink structure to not show the dates but still use the same slugs the links had here I think you stand the best chance.
The self-hosted forums is the best place to find out if you can do anything else from the other site’s side, as @timethief also suggested.
