4 columns in Imbalance 2?
-
I only have 1 column, why is that?
This might sound really stupid, but anyway…
I only want the columns that this theme is supposed to have,
on every page, is that possible? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The site linked to your name is private and as a volunteer I cannot see what you are doing.
I see from your profile (clicking on the word “member” under your username here) that you are only 2 weeks old.
So I will give you some general information.
Imbalance displays multiple columns of your posts (4 or 5 depending whether you choose fluid grid layout) in custom excerpts or auto summaries.
With the Imbalance theme you have a choice for pages of displaying full width or the default template sort of indented.
But pages will dot display as an array as posts will.So you must realize that posts and pages are different.

duh, bad typist tessie:
“But pages will dot display as an array as posts will.”
should say
NOT display … not dot displaysorry dot-y me

Thanks.
but, hm, ok, I don’t have columns anywhere. I have made 4 test-posts, but they all end up separately.
I see people using this theme for portfolios, and that is my plan also.
I’ll make my blog public, so you can see. -
OK!
Now I got the four columns on the homepage, but can I link the posts to different pages? So when you click on a page, you se the posts on that subject.

AS Tess explained above Imbalance 2 offers two layout options, fluid and fixed.
Fluid means the width changes according to screen resolution (or the width of browser) your visitors use.
Fixed means the width does not change according to screen resolution (or the width of browser) your visitors use.
http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/imbalance2/Column one is the blog title and tagline; you edit them in Settings > General.
Column four is for widgets; you add them in Appearance > Widgets.
Columns two and three are for two menus; you create and load them in Appearance > Menus – instructions here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/The posts will display in reverse chronological order by datestamps with the most recent post at the top on the single running page for blogs that every blog has. By default that’s the front page of the blog. Pages are static. They sit outside of the blog structure and you cannot post to multiple pages in any blog. There is only one main page for posts in a blog and all posts will show on the main blog page. There is no way to exclude posts from the main posts (blog) page.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/Although there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts and we cannot post to more than that one page, we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page. We organize posts by assigning categories to them. You can either put the categories widget into the sidebar, or you can create a custom menu and add the categories into the custom menu.

AHA, ok, I thought the columns was something else then..
So I’ll try to create a custom menu, and add the categories there.
I guess that was what I wanted, the appearance that I can post to more than one page. That when you click on a page, you get the posts linked to that subject. Like on the Imbalance 2 Demo. Hope I got it now! Thanks for the help.

As timethief noted, you use categories to organize your blog.
For an example of how category pages look on Imbalance2 see the category “ramen” on my blog:
http://1tess.wordpress.com/category/japanese-food/noodles/ramen-noodles/Scroll down to the footer where you can choose a different category.
Or (not your question, but it gives you an idea of how it will look when you have lots of posts) choose a month in the archives widget. It’s a great theme to display lots of posts for a reader to look at, especially if you have pictures.

Yes, a custom menu will do what you want: but the key is to use categories (well, tags will work too) to organize your posts. I just switched to Imbalance so it’s a “work in progress” now…

Well, thanks
