403 Error on Bulk Edit to change author
-
I have recently had an issue with blog posts on the above domain. I normally write the blog post on my own account, and then change the author through the “Bulk Edit” option. This has worked fine since I set the site up – until just over a month ago, when it threw up a “403” error.
At first, I thought this was an issue with NGINX. However, after a considerable amount of research by my web host, the problem has been tracked down to the WP Toolkit creating security rules. They have disabled the offend rule for now, but are concerned that the problem will recur next time the domain is reconfigured.
For info, this is the current response from the technical guys at the hosting company:
Those rules appear to be default with any wordpress website that is setup in the wp toolkit in plesk which is why my colleague asked if this was effecting other websites too because I would have expected to see this exact same thing on all wp websites on the server. The only way to disable the rules appears to be to manually comment them out by editing the file located here: /var/www/vhosts/system/mindfullybertie.org.uk/httpd.conf
The only other way that I can think to stop this happening would be to detach the websites wp install from the wp toolkit in plesk. You can still have wordpress installed on the website but if it doesnt exist in the wp toolkit then those plesk security rules would not be enforced but that would also mean losing the benefits of the wp toolkit. As changing the author through the Bulk Edit is a bona fide procedure, there must be a method somewhere in WordPress to stop this problem happening.
Can someone help with this, please?
