403 Error on wp-admin

  • Unknown's avatar

When I try to login to my wp-admin page I get a 403 Error. I can still access the public page. I have used FileZilla to check my permissions. Directories are set to 0755 pages 0644 and wp-config is 0440. I have tried reseting my .htaccess file and deleted all plug ins using FileZilla and the issue still remains.

Also possible related when I try to access my site from WordPress it says to please check jetpack connection.

I did restore my site on host gator yesterday after a critical error.

  • Hi there,

Please contact Hostgator support for help with this, as this sounds like a problem on their end. If they say it’s a problem with the WordPress software, you can get help with that from the community who makes WordPress at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

Also possible related when I try to access my site from WordPress it says to please check jetpack connection.

The Jetpack connection is broken because of the 403 error – a 403 error appears when someone tries to access a page they’re not allowed to, and Jetpack is also getting that error when it tries to communicate with your site. In other words, the Jetpack error you see on our end is just another symptom of whatever is wrong here, but isn’t related to the cause.
