404 error after creating new page

I’m having trouble with one of new pages (Gadgets) I recently created. When I previewed it, it turned out fine but when I published it then visited the page, I simply get a “404”.

Any clarification of why this is happening is appreciated.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

What content have you put on that page? Is it just text, or is there media as well? Can you see it on your Dashboard, under Posts? Is it set to post later, by chance?

I have a few pictures centered with accompanying text. I have nothing else that should mess up the section.

I can see it on my Dashboard. It’s not supposed to be under Posts because I just want to be a Page with static section of text and images.

No, it’s set to post immediately. WordPress states that it’s already been published.

I did delete the page and tried to create another one with only one sentence as content and it still gave me the 404 error.

I managed to fix it by renaming the link of the page and title of the page to something else then renaming it all to the name I wanted.

    Problem resolved.

Thanks, raincoster, for replying really quickly.

I am having this same problem on a client’s site after we upgraded her to the latest version (we went 2.8.3 and then 2.8.5 this morning). While all of the older pages are fine, we can’t add a new page. Clicking on any of the links, even the View Page link in wp-admin, returns a 404 error.

The new page is listed as a page in the Pages editing list in wp-admin. When hovering over the listing, the URL states: [base-domain-url]/wp-admin/page.ph?action=edit&post=362

I’ve tried creating several test pages with nothing but a line of plain text. It is not the content. It is something about the upgrade.

There is no problem adding new posts or new categories. It is only new pages. There is a custom permalink structure for posts of /%category%/%postname% , but that shouldn’t affect page links.

Does anyone have a clue before the client drives me nuts (or postal)?

Oh, and let me add that the only plugins currently activated (and upgraded to the latest version) are: Askimet, Google XML Sitemaps and WordPress Database Backup.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
