404 error and ‘Not a valid JSON response’

  • Unknown's avatar

I set up my wordpress and started a couple drafts with different themes and variations to see how it would work. Last night, I tried to post one of my pages as live, but it appears that I missed the www in the name and now it just bounces with a 404 error on my list of pages, but I cannot click it to change it or delete it. If I try to start a new page from scratch, it will not save and I get the ‘Not a valid JSON reponse’ error. My page is now showing as having two sites, one with the WWW and one Published without the WWW, but I can’t access it from any of the lists or site management areas.
I spoke with a blue host and wordpress.org helper and they said to come here and tell the customer service rep that error is bouncing from WordPress.com and the UEL will be domain.com/WP-admin… hoping that someone understands this and can help me to fix it, or confirm if I should just completely delete my account.

    Hi there!

Apologies, but we can’t help with your issue directly because we don’t host casadelara.info on our WordPress.com managed hosting.

To avoid confusion, there are three different “WordPress” at play here:

    1. The free, open-source WordPress software which powers your website.
    2. WordPress.org which is the open-source project that works on the WordPress software and where you can get the software for free to use on your own hosting provider.
    3. WordPress.com which is a managed hosting provider of the WordPress software and with whom you’re contacting now.

Because of the way we’ve optimized our service, we also use a customized version of WordPress that is different (under the hood) from what you use at Bluehost. As a result, we do not have access to your site and are not familiar with the source of your issue.

Bluehost, as your hosting provider, should be able to help with that redirect issue on the server side of things as your domain – regardless of whether you use www or not – should go to a single WordPress install on their servers. That would not be something the WordPress software would control, so I would recommend reaching back out to them to fix this issue.

If they inform you that you need to make some changes to the domain nameservers or any other domain settings, you would do that at FastDomain, where your domain is registered.

    I hope that clarifies things!
