404 Error when changing domain

    Well i recently purchased 10 credits to buy a domain. Simple, or i thought it was.

    The problem is now when i go into dashboard>domain and try to switch to a domain i already bought. It gives me a 404 Error everytime i change it. Even my original wordpress.com blog link goes to 404 Error (which i know it suppose to direct to the one i purchase).

    I know it usually takes a few days to set etc, but its been about 2-3 days now and i still get the same results?
    This a common issue or should i wait a bit longer?

    Hi Ken,

    It looks like you registered the domain through someone else, not WordPress.com. That’s ok, but there is an extra step or two involved in making it work.

    If the only thing you want to use the domain for is your WordPress.com blog (and, optionally, email using Gmail) then what you should do is log in to the control panel provided by your domain registrar and change your DNS name servers to:

    ns1.wordpress.com
    ns2.wordpress.com
    ns3.wordpress.com

    If you want to use subdomains of your domain for something else like a web site or your own email hosting then it’s a bit more complicated. Let us know if you do and I’ll point you to some instructions.

    Ok, will try that. Does it suppose to work straight away or will i have to wait a day or 2?
