404 Not found error

I had a problem with my website and it was showing a 500 Internal server error. I made a change to the .htaccess and that fixed my homepage. Since I did that I am getting a 404 Not found error on all my pages and the blog post that are on it. How can I fix this issue on my website?

    HI there,

Sorry you are having this issue, .htaccess changes can really affect your site. Seems like there is still an error with the .htaccess file.

Do you have a website link we can look at?

If you are able to update the .htaccess file, you might be using the self hosted version of WordPress. This is the forumn for the fully hosted version (WordPress.com) https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

You might be better off asking your question at the org support forums. https://wordpress.org/support/

    Hi again,

I noticed you created a new post about this same issue, I have marked that one as a duplicate and am replying to this one to keep everything in one place. As mentioned before this is the support forum for WordPress.com, your website is using WordPress.org.

You did supply your website link in the other post: http://fetchbirddog.com/

Seems like WordPress is having an issue with finding the other pages, the first thing I would suggest is if you have access to the admin area is going to Settings > Permalinks and clicking save at the bottom. Refresh the site and see if that’s worked.

If not I would suggest deleting everything within your current .htaccess file and pasting in the code at the top of this page. https://codex.wordpress.org/htaccess

Make sure no extra spaces exist at the end of the file.

If these don’t work I would defiantly open a post on the WordPress.org support site: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/

    Good luck!
