404 page not found

Hi I have a self hosted wordpress website but my wordpress.com blog is still running.
I had domain mapping since day 1 when I registered with wordpress.com.
I tried to publish a post on my wordpress.com blog, it shows up on wordpress.com reader straight away. However when I tried to open the post to read the full article, it redirected to my self hosted website and indicated that “oops, the post you tried to find does not exist”.
I have searched many discussions on the forum but I can’t find anything that can help me.
I changed the permalink on my wordpress.org website , it did not work either.
One thing though, if I import and export the XML file into my wordpress.org website, the link then would work. If I create a new post in wordpress.com and then expect for it to be redirected to my self hosted website, the post cannot be found.
Hope my post make sense. Please help!

Did you buy the redirect upgrade when you moved your site to being self-hosted? http://en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/
If so, you’ll need to disable it if you intend on continuing to publish on your WordPress.com site.
-
Thank you. I didn’t buy the redirect upgrade as when tried to do so, it said I already had domain mapping, does not need to purchase the service.
Anything else can I do?

How long ago did you make these changes? It takes up to 72 hours for the DNS to settle down. Until then, you get things like this.

It appears to have propagated https://www.whatsmydns.net/#A/beautyfashionenthusiast.com
Clicking on the link to your WordPress.com website brings me to your self-hosted site, so it seems there is a misconfiguration.

Thank you Justjennifer, what should I do to resolve this issue? I would like to redirect my posts to my self hosted website.

Hi mrlubomir, thank you for your reply.
I just created a post on WordPress.com blog, the permalink is http://beautyfashionenthusiast.com/2014/09/02/wishing-for-the-best/
When I click “view post”, it directed me to my self hosted website, however, the error message “oops! That page cannot be found” showed, asking me to return to my homepage or searing for the item. Also when I created my post, I set category as “beauty”, however, I cannot find anything under that category either.
Thank you.

I would like to redirect my posts to my self hosted website.
then you need to make your Posts on your self hosted site not your .beautyfashionenthusiast.wordpress.com – traffic is being redirected – but Posts will not be redirected – you need to export the Posts from your site here and import them to your self hosted site
see below for the log-in to your self hosted site

Thank you auxclass.
May I ask if it is the case that as long as I set up my permalink structure the same way on my self-hosted site as it was on WordPress.com, the wordpress.com blog including posts should be re-directed to my self-hosted site.
-
Yes you want to have the Permalinks on your self hosted site to match the format of your site here.
PS – the permalink structure here is set up for quick and easy file access and sorting, so there are technical reasons also to keep the same permalink structure as is used here
good luck with your new site
