404 redirect

  Hi there,

  We launched our new website on wordpress.com and have completed the domain mapping etc. but today I noticed that search engines still have some of the old pages from our previous website indexed under their searches. Obviously when someone clicks on this, they get a “404 error” message. Is there any way to redirect them to the homepage of our site or somehow get these saved pages off the search engines?

  Any help would be appreciated.. I am not that “techy”

  I’m sorry but there is no way to redirect those links in search engine page results. See here also > When not to use the URL removal tool http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1269119

  Thanks for the quick reply… any idea how long those pages will be indexed for?
