404 Website Error/Malfunction
-
– After installing the WooCommerce plugin, the store home page took over the main page I had already set for my website; this store home page had not been developed yet.
– I tried unpublishing the store home page to allow the original home page to be featured when searching danedudleymusic.com, but this didn’t work.
– I tried deleting the store home page, but that didn’t work.
– I found a video (https://youtu.be/qmFtMfTBi8Y) to help me set my home page in WordPress. It advised to go into the ‘Reading Settings’ to and change the ‘Front Page’ setting to set the home page.
– I did not see this option when recreating the steps took in the video, so I tried changing the ‘WordPress URL’ to danedudleymusic.com/home (‘home’ being the slug to the page I want set as the homepage).
– When I did this, I got kicked out of my admin panel, looking at any page on my website now, it gives a ‘404 webpage not found’ error, and now WordPress won’t let me back into my admin panel to further troubleshoot. The site I need help with is [visible only to staff] (email visible only to moderators and staff). It is not hosted by WordPress.com, but it is connected with Jetpack.

It looks like your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted at HostGator.
Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers.
You can find more information here about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
Regarding the 404 Error, contact HostGator for help there as that’s a server related problem and they will have the access and ability to help fix that.
Then, if you still have WooCommerce questions, can you please report this issue to WooCommerce support by asking at one of the links below?
If you’re using the free version of WooCommerce you can post in their community forum, here:
https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/woocommerce/
Or if you’re using any premium or payment gateway add-on downloaded from WooCommerce.com you can reach live chat and email support here:

Thanks!
