483 "Unknown Search Terms" a bit high for one day, no?

It seems to all be coming from Google, judging by the numbers. But I can’t believe ALL of those people are using encrypted search, even if they’re reading a hacker news site. It looks like I’m getting zero information about search terms from Google at all via WordPress.com. Do I really have to log into my Google webmaster account to get that information?

I looked back over the last two weeks at several days and I see around 80% to 90% Unknown search terms most days

Really? That would seem to indicate that Google is passing no information at all along to WP. Not even from unencrypted searches. I wonder why.

I’m going to try the Cloudflare workaround to see if I can get Google Analytics working. Will report back.

Google has been encrypting things for a while – my guess is part of it is due to the govt. spying and part competitive – search terms are important info if you are a better writer than I and want to work keywords into the text

Some folks have said that Google could end the Great Firewall of China overnight if they encrypted (https) all of their search feed and cache pages – then China would not know what was going on and people could view banned content from the cache

good luck with your trial – I am not that ambitious and not much at marketing
