500 Error After Installing Plugin
-
I just upgraded my plan to Business on wordpress.com so I could install a plugin I wanted to use. The plugin is Prisma Syntax Highligher. After attempting to install the plugin my site now has this message:
500 error The server encountered a syntax error, and could not complete your request.
Website owner? check your code, and your debug log, you may find a ‘parse’ error in there.
Visitor? Try and reload it in a few minutes.I tried multiple times to use the support chat but it appears that everyone is on siesta.
Any ideas on how I can get this resolved?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That’s a wordpress.ORG software error. WordPress.COM sites and WordPress.ORG sites have different logins.
You are posting to the wrong support forum for support for your software. Also be aware of who the web host is for your site and contact them for any hosting issues.
That site is not on wordpress.COM servers. This is wordpress.COM support. We do not provide support for local installs of wordpress.ORG software, or for wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting, linked to wordpress.COM accounts with the Jetpack plugin so they display on the My Sites wordpress.com account page. Read the differences here https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
The wordpress.ORG support forum is at http://wordpress.org/support. The wordpress.ORG login link is here https://login.wordpress.org/ If you do not have an account yet then click Create an account https://login.wordpress.org/register/ and if you have lost an account password click Lost password? https://login.wordpress.org/lostpassword/
WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page

That may be but I am a wordpress.com customer. wordpress.com is my host . I upgraded to the business plan this afternoon and I have received email from WordPress.com with my receipt and offering to help me setup my site. Please don’t tell me again that I am on the wrong site. You are wrong in this case!

Hello!
I can see your domain is definitely hosted with WordPress.com. I’ll tag this and an admin should be able to help you with it.
-
-
I’m new, so you may have already given it a go, but are you able to access the admin page in My Sites on WordPress.com, select Plugins from the menu, and deactivate it until it’s sorted?
I know some plugin conflicts make the admin page unavailable as well. Is the error only on the public page, or is it stopping you from accessing admin as well?

It seems to have broken many parts of the site including plugins and makes them inaccessible. Thanks Shieronymous!

I know you’ve tried the support chat, but have you tried sending an email from here: https://wordpress.com/help/contact
-
-
The plugin was Prisma Syntax Highlighter. I don’t see how to send an email from that page Joerepublic. Every time I go there I get the chat window to ask a question that never gets a response.

None of the online support mechanisms like chat and emailing support have worked for me. I was able to use the WordPress app on my phone to contact support. Hopefully they’ll be responsive.

Hi jmegtr,
Your Business plan gives you access to Live Chat and email support. I can see you tried to reach us yesterday but there was an issue. Please try contacting us through Live Chat again and if you are still having problems, let me know and I’ll follow up with you by email.
Thanks!

Hi jmegtr,
If staff are available you should be able to access Live Chat straight away. If not, you will have access to priority email support from this page:
https://wordpress.com/help/contact
Is this working for you?
