500 menu items. Can WP handle it.

    Hi,
    I was wondering how WP handles 100s of menu items in the main menu (in WP dashboard menu structure). Let’s say I build a website that has a need for 500 menu items. eg 25 parent links with 10x1st child links and 10x2nd child links each:
    >parent1
    >>child1-10
    >>>child11-20
    …
    >parent25

    Is there a different plugin I should be using or settings I’d need to tweak for the menu to be administered as optimally as possible?

    Hi, I’m not sure of the upper limit for WordPress, but I do know the usable upper limit on a mobile phone is much lower than that. Would you consider using pages for navigation instead?

    If so, you could use page hierarchy and lists of child pages to manage your system, or just use this:
