    Hi
I know this has been done before….but the file I am trying to import is 922kb …..that should be small enough shouldn’t it?? I have tried on and off for about 5 hours now to import and xml file (exported from awordpress blog) into a blank wordpress blog – is there any problem with the servers??
    Thanks

Was this another wp.com blog or elsewhere?

It was a wp blog that I exported from and I am trying to import to a wp blog

He means, was it a blog hosted at WordPress.com? Because if it’s not, you need to be asking at WordPress.org.

The blog I am exporting from is name1.wordpress.com and the blog I want to import to is name2.wordpress.com

The one tip I remember off the top of my head is to delete ALL the spam in the Akismet file first, as that takes up a lot of room. Try that and see if it helps.

But yes, we have been having a lot of trouble with the servers over the past day or so, although it seems to have calmed down now. And that’s not a huge file, you’re right.

We deleted all the spam…the Akismet file says it has 0 spam in it.
When we do look at the file using notepad….there are a lot of ‘spam’ type links – can’t see them anywhere in the blog, are they the akismet files you are talking about? How do you delete them?

Yes, those are the files I’m talking about. If you deleted them before saving the file they shouldn’t be in your code at all. I’m afraid I’m out of ideas. Someone with more expertise in export/import should be around soon, though.
