504 Gateway timeout errors — how can we get the site stable
-
Several times a day our site is crashing. Sometimes it is just our homepage, but not other pages on the site. Beyond updating PHP (which I’m not sure why we need to do that anyways) what can we do.
If we buy a wordpress plan, how will that help us keep our site more stable???

Hi, could you send a link to your site? If it’s here on our servers it shouldn’t be crashing at all. We take care of maintenance and optimization for our customers, as well as support, security, hosting, etc.
If it’s with another host, you might be hitting some of their limits and will want to look into optimizations, but I’d recommend heading to the correct forums for more advice: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
Or you’d be welcome to move the site here: https://transferto.wordpress.com/self-hosted-wordpress-org/
Cheers!

Hi there!
Since your site is not hosted with WordPress.com, you’ll want to reach out to your host directly about it or write on the community forums: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. You can read more about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com here:
https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/http://wordpress.org/support/ is also a great resource for sites using the open-source WordPress.org software.
As @supernovia mentioned, if you moved your site here the site shouldn’t be crashing at all since we take care of maintenance and optimization, security, hosting, etc.
