6 wks of Askimet tossing authors' comments into the spam queue

    I think WordPress is the best free multi-user blog I have seen. The features are wonderful. The forums and support are excellent. I seriously am considering moving elsewhere after an author and frequent contributor to http://www.whatbirdisthis.wordpress.com complained (again) about her comment not appearing. Comments appearing in real time are especially important to certain kinds of blogs. This is multi-user and intended to be similar to an ongoing conversation. It should work like an IM. What can you do to get Askimet to understand that authors, especially, should have their comments automatically approved? I did receive a very nice response to my prior communiques about this same issue. On Aug. 7, Mark assured me that Askimet had learned they were good and they should not be caught as spam. Within the next three days, Askimet threw five comments into the spam queue. All were from previously published authors. Here are the statistics. One total spam. 24 ham (does that include posts, because the problem is comments) 35 false positives and a minus forty percent accuracy rate. Is it Coraline? Would the problem be solved if I used another template? If not, I am totally stumped, but I can’t afford to lose my contributors. It is a new site that I am trying very hard to build up, but when people who are interested in birdwatching can participate in sites in real time, they are not interested in mine.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    It’s not theme-related, but it might be related to the number of links they include. I believe the default is, if a comment contains four links it’s automatically Spammed. Admins often reply with lots of links to explain things. Could this be the issue?

    There have been no links in any of the comments. I thought I was communicating with Askimet staff, and will re-address this issue with them. Thank you for the link.

    @floridabirdwatchers
    I thought you might be thinking that. You’re welcome and best wishes with this.
