$80 late renewal fee?!?!

  Ok so I haven’t written on my blog for a while. Decided to re-commit myself, sign in and I’m told I need to renew my domain. I go to do this and find a big fat $80 renewal fee. I wasn’t aware there was a late fee, and even if WordPress mentioned it somewhere its probably in teeny tiny writing. Epven if its not them actually charging me, this is incredibly unfair, I’m not happy at all and I plan to find another blogging platform because $80 is outragous, especially since I’m a college student.

  All registrars have late fees when your domain name goes into Redemption (over 7 to 10 days late) – standard internet practice – WordPress.COM just passes the cost on to you

  It looks like your domain name is about to be deleted from the database – it MIGHT revert to the wild and you can get it again for the regular price – however a squatter might also buy the name and hold it hostage – or the registrar might hold it and auction it off
