90% sure this needs staff – domain i own at godaddy showing as deleted on wp
-
Hi
I have been going around in circles on this and the new host (godaddy) insist it is a wp issue (i know easy to pass buck but it seems it to me too)
actioned transfer of domain tapasrestaurantibiza.com from free wp to go daddy.
everything is ok their end. the domain is showing as owned by me, up and running,
however it seems wordpress have in some way failed to release it.
direct entry of the address goes to a wp expired page
entry of search to google shows expired results (all of which lead to same page above)
currently even forwarding to one of our other sites still goes to wp.
direct entry of the ip address given in control panel does take you to the (blank) go daddy site. but using the log in link on that page takes you back to wp.
frustrating that wp site says it does not support free installs, but does support paid, but will not let me pay as insists site has been deleted.
have cleared local cache, router cache, and shot johnny cash for good measure.
impasse – what is to be done?

A whois shows the registrar as Godaddy & the name servers pointing to Godaddy – that makes is out of the hands of WordPress.COM.
However it can take 24 to 72 hours for name server changes to update across the internet – access to your site will be erratic during that time, also you will be the last one to see the changes

However tapasrestaurantibiza.com sends me to http://www.relishrestaurantibiza.com/ – that is also a Godaddy issue and that might also be how you want it to happen (you can have more than one domain name to a single web site – but only one name can be primary

thanks chaps

should it take as long as 2 weeks though aux? the domain transfer was completed on the 14th June. Also surely the wordpress wouldn’t say the domain name had been deleted when it was being transferred?
the forwarding to relish is simply one of many steps taken to try get some control and at least a 404 page up to advise clients

The transfer of the registration can take a bit of time – sorry not sure how long – but the domain should work during that time
the nameserver update /change should only take a max of 72 hours – for access to a new host to stabilize
What is the full URL beginning with http of the site you are worried about being deleted? changing the name servers or registrar should not delete a site
I have flagged this for staff attention – they can look at the history of your account – I can’t

really not worried about old site content at all. have a completely new build ready to go – just need to be able to use our name without it going via wordpress.
i don’t know if this info will help id the problem. for the first few days (the bit i was expecting when you talked of access being eratic and needing to stablise) using the domain name would pull up the old wordpress site, with wordpress (prefixed or suffixed, cant remember which) into the url. that no longer forms part of the url, now when i get the wordpress domain deleted page it just has the actual domain name we own in it, suggesting something triggerred a change, but not the correct one.
if it would help to see what i see a google search for tapas restaurant ibiza brings up half a dozen pages from the old site which also route to the name deleted page.
the fact that makes me think something is def wrong is that the wordpress page specifically says “that domain name is no longer available and has been deleted” cant imagine they would give that response to am outgoing change of host.
If staff are reading this now can i plead for this to be resolved urgently. it is a commercial site and the situation is loosing business and confidence.
reLLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP AUX :-)

Hi gibbsyns3,

According to whatsmydns.net your name servers are pointing to GoDaddy servers.
Who is the host for the site that you just built?
