A “1” category keeps showing up In Categories
-
Everytime there is a new post made a “1” category keeps showing up in Categories at the top!
I keep deleting it but like a Zombie it comes back the next time anyone posts. I tried renaming it to “News & Views” (like I needed another category) but that didn’t work. How do I get rid of this (Non)Category?
I’m getting very frustrated!
Thank you for your help.

Go to settings > writing and set your default category to something that you use and save the changes. You can change categories at the time you write a post.
After doing that delete the “1” category by going to manage > categories.

This is an addendum to the above problem.
This “1” is at the top of the Categories listing where our default “News” category used to be in the old WordPress setup.
I noticed that this “1” acts like a default in that if you don’t choose any categories this “1” gets automatically checked and shows up in the post.I want to change the default to “News & Views” but there is nowhere to do so. Even back to what we used to have as default “News” is much more acceptable than “1” is.
Again Thanks for your help.

Hi thesacredpath,
Thanks for tip. I forgot the about sub-tabs under the settings tab.
I ran a test post, and the category “1” isn’t showing up. And the default is working.
2nd problem:
How do I get it to Show “All Categories” under the Post area? It just stated defaulting to “Most Used” Categories.
Or maybe I need to do a new topic?

You’re very welcome.
There should be a “show all” link there that you can use, but there is no way to set “show all” as a default.
