A big Google Ad appeared – I didn’t put it there

I searched for my new blog “like a regular user” and easily found it through a search engine. I was surprised to see a large Google ad at the top of the page (in even larger font than my title). It was annoying. I didn’t include Google ads in my blog. I scrolled down and found more Google ads in the blog (regular size).
    1) Why are Google ads appearing in my blog when I didn’t add them?
    2) If Google ads are in my blog, I want to get paid for the click-through (and, as they are now, I won’t get paid because they’re not really “mine”)
    3) The Google ads that show up are totally unrelated to anything I’ve written in the blog so far.
    4) Has anyone else encountered this?
    5) How can I get rid of these ads on my blog that I didn’t set up? (I’ve taken a screen shot of it — but who at WordPress is working with this kind of error?)
    Thank you.

    1) WordPress.com itself runs them; they are not supposed to show up for most people, just ones coming from search engines who are not regular WP.com readers.
    2) You won’t. See above.
    3) and?
    4) Yes, everyone encounters this. It is on all blogs except the VIP ones. There are many threads about it in the forum already
    5) You cannot, short of qualifying and paying for the VIP upgrade, which is several hundred dollars a month.

    Thanks. That’s helpful information.
    (and, still surprising…)

Apparently staff are talking about some upgrade to remove Adsense…but right now it’s just talk.
