A blog I have set up to follow is not showing in the sidebar
-
I have a widget for blogs I follow. There are 3 blogs listed by default. I added a link to another blog I want to include in the list, assigned the category of blogroll. It shows up in the list of links, but does not display in the sidebar.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The widget you’re referring to actually automatically pulls in blogs that you follow on WordPress.com, there is no way to manually add links to it.
Have you followed the blog in question? If so, what is the URL of the blog you’re referring to?
-
Thanks for the quick response. Yes, I have followed the blog, which is not on WordPress. The url is http://gossipsofrivertown.blogspot.com/

Ah, that’s a BlogSpot blog. The widget only shows WordPress.com blogs that you follow. BlogSpot is by Google, so we can’t keep track of which blogs you follow there. :)
If you want to manually build a widget of blogs you follow, so you can include blogs you follow outside of WordPress.com, first build a menu of custom links: http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
Then, use the Custom Menu widget: http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/custom-menu-widget/

Didn’t work the way I had hoped. I wanted to have a list of blogs appear in the sidebar but it seems this theme only allows it to appear in the header. I created a menu and added the url and name for The Gossips of Rivertown to it. What appears in the header is the name of that blog, not a menu that would contain a list of blogs. Also, if I click on that blog name, it doesn’t find the address. I deleted the whole thing for now. Any idea what I am doing wrong?
-
Also, note that I added a link to a WordPress blog that I follow, Eating With Ziggy, url eatingwithziggy.com, type is blogroll. It does not appear in the sidebar either.

You missed the part about “Then, use the Custom Menu widget: http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/custom-menu-widget/ ” ;)
-
Also, it looks like you have since deleted the menu.
So, just build the menu again via Appearance -> Menus (make a new menu, don’t just add to the navigation menu), then use the Custom Menu widget to add that menu to the sidebar.
If anything goes wrong, please don’t delete it so I can take a look.

I will try the custom menu option tomorrow, but my question above still remains, why doesn’t Eating With Ziggy, which is a WordPress blog, show up in Blogs I Follow?
-
I can see it there: https://cloudup.com/cDuB6Es3hY0
Have you tried clearing your browser’s cache?

I added the menu called Other Blogs I Like and used the custom option to put it in the sidebar. The menu title shows up there, but I also added a link to Gossips of Rivertown in the menu (as I had done in my earlier attempt), and it is not showing up.

You haven’t added any items to the “Other Blogs” menu at Appearance -> Menus in your blog’s Dashboard.
You need to add the blogs you like to it as Custom Links, then click the blue Save Menu button.
