A blog I was editing today appears to have gone. How come? I did save it!

I was editing a blog today and now I want to re edit it. However it has gone!
Can you help retrieve it?

Hello there,
If the post was created on the dashboard of your own blog at Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New then you ought to be able to recover a lost post or page from revisions if needs be.

But if the post was created here http://wordpress.com/#!/post/ there is no means of recovery as the auto-save is not functioning there.
Always create your posts on the dashboard of your own blog at
Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New
The auto-save works there and the post will be Standard post format unless you change it.Do not create posts here > http://wordpress.com/#!/post/ where the auto-save is not working and where you are creating an Aside post format.

a bit hard to nail this down; my thoughts would be that you probably added a Post; if so, you’d look in Posts/All Posts and see if your blog is there;even if you are adding a new Post and you leave that screen behind w/o doing a “Save Draft”, WordPress will save a copy for you; the copy will be in your All Posts list; when you select it the editing screen will give you an option of restoring the backed up Post; pretty cool!
when you are adding a post you’ll of course want to “Save Draft” as you are working – always;
you may know that a “Save Draft” is just saving a temporary copy; a “Save Draft” post will appear in the All Posts list just like any other Post; it’s just that it will have the word “draft” next to it; that way you’ll know it can’t been seen by the public
