A business website for my soon-to-be ex-housekeeper
-
My housekeeper won’t be with me for a whole lot longer because she is about to finish up her classes in massage therapy and will be looking for a job and ultimately to practice on her own.
I have begun making a new blog with WordPress that will serve as her business website. For now, I have chosen Fresh Bananas as the theme because it has that cool, relaxing look to it. There are others with a relaxing feel, but they have RSS icons etc scattered on the header, and that would take away from the Website Look.
I would like to make her massage therapist website a simple one without need for a lot of posts. I would like to be able to have a picture of her, all of the contact information, a description of what she does (Swedish massage and hot stone therapy) and “endorsements” from past clients she had during her practice sessions through the school.
How should I use the template to best do what will help her the most? Should I use a Page? I have no idea. I will experiment on this, but welcome welcome welcome any suggestions or tips.
It would be so wonderful if she could have a website and have it printed on her business cards. Thank you.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

P.S.
I have gone thru the themes and the semi-finalists are: Fresh Bananas, Ocean Mist, Tarsky, Misty Look, and Ocadia. All but Misty Look have that cool aquamarine blue soothing airiness that I think might appeal to people looking at a website.Again, any tips to help Marixa’s website are welcomed. I know that a blog is not as good as a website for this type of thing, but here I am with WordPress. :-) :-)

Oh rats. TOS
I just read the TOS and discovered that one cannot advertise for businesses. I so wanted to help Marixa out. 8-(

You spend a lot of time on this forum asking for help and you missed the fact that the types of blogs we are allowed to have here are found in the support documentation. Unbelievable Lorna.

Timethief, yes, I did indeed miss that fact before I began making the blog for my housekeeper.

Not to worry. You have told us you have been condused as of late but now you are clear on what the correct links to the relevant support documents are.
A massage therapist is a professional and she wants a business blog.
Business: Professionals ranging from realtors to lawyers and stock brokers are using WordPress to share their expertise, and companies have discovered the power of blogs to personally engage with their customers.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/I am firmly convinced that this lady could set up her own blog here at wordpress.com without your help. That way she would be communicating directly with Volunteers and Staff rather than having you as a go between.
By creating her own blog which hundreds of thousands so every day you won’t need to be involved or stressed out or foggy headed or whatever because you won’t be involved.
It also means the lady in question will learn her blogging skills hands on so there will be no difficulties with regard to interpretation from second hand information.
I suggest you give her the links and let her set up her own blog.

Well, she cannot afford anything that is not free and was very happy to have this kind of a blog with her name and contact on it. When she can afford one, I am sure she will get something more appropriate.
And although you think that this lady could set up her own blog here, she in fact cannot. She knows nothing about computers or the internet and has no email address of course. She was happy that I would put a blog up for her since she needs to focus more on her training and her start out on her own.
We did not see this as me being a go-between, since her phone number would have been on the blog and she would get calls straight to her phone.
She is from El Salvador and speaks English well enough to get along, but readily accepted my help when I offered. She also asked for my help with a business card.
She does not want to learn blogging skills, or at least not right now. Right now she wants to get established in her business. I know what she wants and needs because I see her on a regular basis and we have talked.

I remembered that I could still do it on my Blogger account so now my housekeeper has her blog ad!!!!!!!!! It was easy to make and I will plug in her real phone number and the real picture of her after she graduates and receives her certificate. I am very happy and excited for her and am thinking about having a massage party with a few friends as a gift to my housekeeper. Here is the ad/blog I made:

I actually finished it several weeks ago but forgot about it since Marixa is not ready to use it yet. ~Peregrine

I have flagged this thread so our Moderator removes the inappropriate link to the blogspot blog.
-
Ok. But why is it inappropriate? Is it that we should not post links to any blogging platform other than WordPress?? Just asking.

Oh I see. Did you mean that it was a link to an ad? But it is not an ad since the phone number and the real photo of her are not there. It is not a page that can be acted upon, and surely do not accept anything from my housekeeper except her friendship.
Notice that the phone number has xxx xxx-xxxx.
This is not a link that can make her money today, via WordPress.~Peregrine
