A Cache Plugin is needed

I have worked on wordpress.com and wordpress.org self hosted blogs.
Wordpress.com blogs are very good in terms of security. That could be a reason of not allowing use of third party plugins .
But don’t you think a plugin like WPTotal Cache or Wp Super Cache should be added.
I have analysed hundreds of wordpress.com blogs and most of them have issue of page speeds. You should integrate such plugin.
Even this is a reason why people switch to self hosted service. Your team should work on this.

    Hey gauravrathee005,

I suspect that WordPress.com utilizes caching, perhaps multiple layers of it and that it all works seamlessly in the background providing users with a great web experience. I would even bet that caching is considered a high priority, that it’s continually monitored and adjusted as needed.

WordPress.COM does us caching – media is cached for instance and there are some other instances that I have seen staff discuss caching.

Re slow web sites – the ones I have seen at WordPress.COM have been due to very poor blog practices by nitwit bloggers – usually putting many large images on the front page (who really needs 35 pictures all 6MB each) – failure to use the Read More function, putting a large number of Posts on the first page – – what the nitwits doing that do not understand is that their browser usually caches locally their site, so when someone visits it for the first time they get a large download

For sure the way WordPress.COM sets up the architecture has some problems in that all sites download ALL the CSS for ALL the themes – that can also slow things down and not much a blogger can do for that problem

    Hi auxclass
Yes you are right, many times problem is only from the side of inexperienced bloggers.
Few days back my friend asked me to analyse her blog. This is what I recommended her :
    1. I recommended her to limit the number of posts on front page and also use excerpts.
    2. I also asked her to optimise her images before uploading them.
She said how to optimise images ? I told her to visit compressjpeg.com for jpeg format and tinypng.com for png format.
    3. I also asked her to enable mobile theme.
But still tools like Page Speed Insight, Gtmetrix.com are not giving better scores for wordpress.com blogs.
Minifying CSS, Javascript needs some improvement.

I also want to make a point regarding a new feature name “Google Weblight”, introduced in some countries by Google. This works only with slower internet connections and transcode webpages to a light version which is 4 times faster.
But it has negative effect on some websites. Due to this some content like photos is not properly visible.
But Google lets you opt out by setting HTTP Header “Cache-Control: no-transform”, which again needs a cache management system and no such system is provided for WordPress users.
