a comment attributed to me appeared on a blog. I did not make it.

I’ve written a blog for about 2 years, liturgicalyear.wordpress.com. Last week I created a new blog for a project I’m working on. It is a private blog. Neither blog has anything to do with the other. For each blog, I & only one other person have the password. They are not the same person. Yesterday morning I posted on liturgical year. Last night around 7pm, the new blog posted a comment on liturgicalyear saying, “Breathtaking…” I asked the other person if he posted that comment & he did not. It appears to be spam. I have no idea how this happened or how to prevent it in the future. I changed the password on the new blog. I’m not sure what else to do. Can you help?

If you have enabled post by email, disable it. Change your password at WordPress.com and on your email just to be safe.

When we suspect our email address and/or our blog has been hacked we do these things:
Go here > Dashboard > Users > All Users and delete any username you find there that is not authorized to have access to your blog.
Go here and immediately change your password to a very strong password >

Go to your rmail account change your password to a very strong password
Read this section carefully and know if you are posting by phone it was probably your email account that was hacked to gain access to your blog.

It seems to be happening a LOT lately ….
