a complete redesign….

Hello and Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.
I would like to completely redesign my blog and start all over with a new theme and new content at the same url. My question is, how do I delete most of what has been published thus far. I’d like to keep a few posts, but certainly not many as my new ‘idea’ for this site is so different. Is this even possible?
It was originally a private blog and now I’d like to make it public and remove personal information that was not meant to be shared.

Go to Posts —> Edit —> tick the posts you want to delete —> bulk actions (apply) —>move to trash.
Or bulk actions to edit posts. Change status to private or draft.

Hmmm. I went to Posts->Edit but it didn’t show a tick box for each individual post. Nor would it let me get in to edit them either.
