A couple of (odd) things

I am trying to understand more of the WP blocks as time goes by.
My site is a video site. WP.com is known perhaps mostly for being a blogging platform, but 5-6 years ago there was not a problem at all to use WP.com at a platform for a video-/ photo site and make it nice/ delicate design wise.
I’m trying to make it work 2021 :)Today I embedded a new video using shortcode block.
Initially, I wanted my site to have “blocks” of 3 videos horizontal – some padding between – and then a new row of 3 with space between.
This was tried out, but the thumbnails of the videos came out either much too big or much too small. I have settles for only 2.
Now, the blocks – in where the videos go – cannot be (re)-sized to fit the size of the videos I’ve come to understand (?). I guess some would say that the presentation of videos come out a bit…..awkward?
I’ve just settled for it.
So I posted a new video today- but this time I wanted a bit of text alongside it.
After a while I figured out how to post the video on top of the others on the page ( arrows to move up/down didn’t work). The text block was placed beside the video. How to get the text adjacent the video but placed by the video and not the block?
Ok. So you think using “enter” on the text would move it.
Nope, that didn’t work. ??
“Spacer” – that’s the tool (block) that’s going to be used a lot – and if only there could also be a spacer to use vertically! (Haven’t I found it?)Here is what had to be done https://wordpress.com/page/petitpoisvideos.com/2089
to make it display as this
https://petitpoisvideos.com/1872-2/I’m just trying to make it work…………:)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
I was going to suggest the columns block, with a video inserted (via shortcode in this case) in each column, but I see you have already done this.
I actually think your page looks good here, so I’m not sure what input you are lookign for. I do think that having 3 columns of video will be a little too small. With two columns the videos are bigger, and can be seen more easily.
The text block was placed beside the video. How to get the text adjacent the video but placed by the video and not the block?
That is what I am seeing on that page now, yes? For me the text is beside (adjacent) the first video on the left. Screenshot here:
You had something else in mind? Can you describe for me how you are trying to make it look different from what I am seeing now?
Thanks for the additional info!

Hello
My post had two points;
– when wanting to move a block up>up – or down>down I could not do it with the arrows up/down because they were greyed out/didn’t work, I could not do it by “grabbing” or “move to”. The way left to have a block placed on top was to insert a block on top – which is ok when you figure it out -( but still some options to move is there but not working, you have to try and try again to find a way).– when wanting to have the text placed by the video and not the block, the way to move the text downwards in the block would be – in my experience from other text editors – to use “enter”. Not so. I had to place a “spacer” block. When done, I got the visual seen here
https://wordpress.com/page/petitpoisvideos.com/2089
which, to me, is “wrong” – at best confusing. I had to go back and forth between editing and preview several times as there were no other way to see (guess) the outcome.
( After some time I will delete the page with the example)

Hi there,
This is happening because you have the videos and the text inside a Columns block. So the videos cannot be moved inside the Columns block. The whole Columns block (with the videos inside it) can only be moved up or down.
If you want to change the position of a video, you’ll have to remove it and re-embed it to its new position.

Hello
Well, I did not have any trouble with the video, I was not trying to move the video.
I had trouble with the text, I was trying to move the text down so it could align the video – and not the video block.Inside paragraph block, I was not able to move the text downward inside the block.
From what I experienced, you cannot move text down
inside a paragraph block using enter. It seems text is glued to the top of the paragraph block, and if you want to move it down (or for that matter up) you have to use a spacer.
At least that was what I had to do.There may well be a help-page where this is explained.
However, I just assumed – as in other text editors – you could use “enter” – or for that matter “back / delete” to move text.
That doesn’t seem to be the case.Anyway, the spacer block will come in handy.
Is there plans to add a spacer block for use vertically? -
Hello there,
Glad to hear that you’re making progress.
Is there plans to add a spacer block for use vertically?
Currently there is no plans for this functionality.
