A couple of questions with changing name servers

    Hi all,

I recently bought a domain through wordpress but decided to move my site over to siteground. I’ve read wordpress’s documentation on changing name servers and editing the dns settings but still had a couple questions:

    1) I’ve changed the name servers under that tab of the edit domain options, but what about the “NS” listing under the edit DNS tab? I see no way to either remove that listing or verify that it is indeed pointing to site ground. Does anything need be done here?

    2) I deleted the other DNS listings and setup my own A listing instead pointing to one of the IP’s siteground gave me. I’m wondering though, since siteground gave me two different IP’s, one for each name server they listed, do I need to set up two A references? How does this play into things?

Thanks so much for the help!

I see that you’ve changed the NS records and the domain redirects. Please let us know if you need any further assistance!

Yes, though my question goes a bit beyond that:

    1) I assume the NS listing of “handled by wordpress” on the “Edit DNS” tab will not effect anything negatively if being left as such?

    2) Do I need to make a second listing for the other NS IP that siteground gave me, and if so, how?

So I can access the domain name to the servers I want it to now, but I’m asking these questions to ensure a fully valid pointing (so that nothing might get messed up later).

    Thanks

The DNS records on WordPress.com are not being used since the name server records are pointed to siteground. The redirection works perfectly fine so you don’t need to do anything else.

I’m a bit curious about how that second IP might interact with things, but I’ll take your word on it that everything’s fine. So far I’ve had little issues other than an occasional redirect to wordpress.com (though I believe that’s just my browser cookies getting confused).

    I had already done that.
I guess I’ll just consider the matter closed, thanks!
