A couple of sandbox customization questions
-
Okay, folks. I’m very sorry, I realize that I posted this elsewhere prior to having enough coffee, and in my haze I think it was in the wrong place. So, here it is again, sorry!
Please forgive me if I’ve overlooked the answers to these questions, but I’ve searched over and over again.
The blog I am working on is http://www.buttercreamdreamsga.com, and I’m using Sandbox.
First, I’m trying to attach an image to the footer. I can see that the space is there, but I don’t see the image. Here is my code:
div#footer {
footer-image:url (http://buttercreamdreamsga.wordpress.com/files/2009/10/robinspringerfooter.gif);
text-align:bottom-center;
clear:both;
width:100%;
padding:0;
margin:0;
height:100px;
}Can I do it this way or do I have to change the PHP file? And am I right that that is the ONE PHP file you CAN change for Sandbox in wordpress.com?
Second, is there any way to get rid of the default sidebar widgets? I really don’t want the meta widget there.
Thanks in advance!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

On the first, I think you would have to do the image as a background with no repeat. I cannot find any reference anywhere to “footer-image.” A search at W3C schools brought back zero results.
On point two, before you add any widgets, what you are seeing is a theme-generated sample display of widgets so the sidebar won’t be empty and you will know what it looks like. Once you add a widget to the sidebar, the others will disappear. You then add in any widget that you want in the sidebar and arrange them as you see fit.

Hi and thank you!
I will try the background.
I have been adding some text widgets but they are not all disappearing. Do you suppose that if I add more widgets they will continue to go away?
Thanks again! -

All that shows are two sidebars, one I have put widgets in, and one that is empty, that was when I first noticed these widgets a few days ago. I will look again.
-
Yep, it’s empty.
I mean, it’s not the end of the world, but the goal of this is to look more like a regular website than a blog. But, it is what it is. -
Try putting an blank text widget into first one sidebar, and then into the other and check the blog in between to see if the widgets have disappeared.

Somewhere in the back of my mind, I knew this was the answer! Thank you!
As for the footer, I still can’t get the image to show up. I don’t know, for some reason I’m in give up and finish it mode, so I think that I will re-think and re-draw the image to fit in a text widget instead.
Thanks for the help! -
