A decent weather widget? (no RSS or weatherpixie please!)
-
Is there a way to display a weather widget in my sidebar? I don’t want RSS because it’s only text — I’d like to show some graphics for the current weather. And weatherpixie — I find the pictures obnoxious.
I understand that if you can have plain HTML you can put it in the plain text widget… except… which weather service website provides plain HTML for weather? (Ideally the 10-day forecast).
Thanks.

weatherchannel.com used to have html 5-day forecasts by zip code. I know they still offer weather for sites/blogs, but I don’t know if they’ve gone to java. It’s worth checking.

Have you tried these? http://weather.weatherbug.com/web-widgets.html
I haven’t but I just noticed them. -
i tried this, http://english.wunderground.com/, and i appreciate the look of their html widget, small and shiny. Have a look! :)

Timethief –
Thanks for your suggestion. I just tried it and it won’t show up properly, probably because they use an iframe. -

That worked! (wunderground.com) Thanks! Now if I could just find a 10-day forecast widget …

Thanks. I posted the sticker in my sidebar. It’s too bad that it’s slightly too large for the space.

timethief,
i was just wondering……… if the code is an img code, then it is possible to resize the widget by including image width and image height information within the image code :D -
Yes indeed. I did that but I didn’t like the outcome of the sticker design I chose so I dumped it. Not to worry though as there are 18 sticker styles to choose from and some are small enough to fit in sidebars. :)

I have used the following link for my weather http://weather.weatherbug.com/France/Narbonne-weather.html?zcode=z5740&units=1 and whilst I can get the box to display I can’t get the weather to show….does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

What exactly are you putting in the text widget? Paste it between backticks ( they look like this ` and can be found above the tab key and next to the 1 on a US keyboard.)
It’s hard to say without seeing the code you’re using, but I’d guess there’s some sort of javascript or flash in there. Those are stripped out automatically for security reasons.
