A Few Customization questions for Pique
-
Greetings,
I hope its okay to put a few topics in one thread.
The first: Grid Page Display Problem
(the parent page is The Work)
When I set it up at first it looked as desired; a 3 x 3 grid. When I logged in later on it is wonky and now off kilter still in 3 columns but text only in 2 of them and not aligned at that.Next: I’m curious if in this theme you can turn off title/tagline on inner pages? Also- my logo is now the perfect size on my homepage (thanks to ya’lls help) but its too large on inner pages- can this be changed sperately?
On Inner Pages; can the background color be changed of the main body (not the header/footer) or does it have to be white?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey @raggedyrose, sorry we missed this earlier.
I hope its okay to put a few topics in one thread.
You’ll get much faster help if you stick with one topic per thread, but we’ll forgive you :)
The first: Grid Page Display Problem
(the parent page is The Work)
When I set it up at first it looked as desired; a 3 x 3 grid. When I logged in later on it is wonky and now off kilter still in 3 columns but text only in 2 of them and not aligned at that.I’m not seeing that actually: https://avi-rose.com/working-together/ is aligned nicely here. Can you upload a screenshot of what you’re getting?
I’m curious if in this theme you can turn off title/tagline on inner pages?
Not as a built-in theme feature, but with CSS plenty of things are possible. I’d hide it on every page, then just re-display on the home page, like so:
.site-title, .site-description { display: none; } .home .site-title, .home .site-description { display: block; }Also- my logo is now the perfect size on my homepage (thanks to ya’lls help) but its too large on inner pages- can this be changed sperately?
Sure. If you want the rules we sent to only apply to the home page, add “.home ” before the rest of the CSS statement (much like we did above.)
On Inner Pages; can the background color be changed of the main body (not the header/footer) or does it have to be white?
Yes, it can be changed. Just note you’ll likely need to change text colors and what not, too, which can become more complex. Here’s the current setting; you can override it by pasting into your CSS section with a new color:
.site { background: rgba(252, 251, 249, 0.9); }Cheers :)

This is phenomenally helpful- I wish I had logged back in to check response earlier :)
I feel ridiculous but I can’t see a way to upload the screenshots I have that show the wonky Grid alignment in my browser….I have looked in Microsoft Edge, Chrome, and Safari and it is okay in Chrome but looked bad in the other 2…
I have other questions but I will ask them as separate questions one at a time, because learning :)
Thanks again!

Glad that was somewhat helpful!
You can upload screenshots at wordpress.com/media – can you give that a go?
-
Great- Yes, I uploaded 2 shots of the Wonky Grid presentation- Can you see that there in my media?
-
Thanks! I do now.
What version of Safari are you using? I tested in Safari 11.0.2, Chrome 63.0.3239.84, and Firefox 57.0.1 (64-bit) and I can’t duplicate the issue.
Does this problem shift around if you change the width of your browser window?
-
Hi- I have asked the person who told me about the Safari bug- I’m not sure. I also have had others check and they have had no problem on Safari.
The one consistent problem is with Microsoft Edge; and it doesn’t shift around when I change the width of the browser. I was chatting with another website fairy on the support chat function and she tried increasing the width of the content are to see if that fixes it but it didn’t; she also said you might have more tricks up your sleeve other than asking theme experts if a bug ticket needs to be created for it. Might’cha?
In gratitude,

Mmmm well I do have ONE idea.
Can you try pressing ctrl+0 in your browser to see if that changes anything?
-
It made the screen bigger/font larger- but didn’t change the grid :(
Does this mean its going to bug ticket land?
-
Mmm, do you see the same issue here or is this fine?

In Microsoft Edge, it displays with a map/list under it on the left- and then 2 columns aligned with the map that say ‘Filters Coffee’ and ‘Espresso’ and under Filters Coffee is a blank space and under Espresso is ‘Concoctions’
Is it supposed to be filters coffee/espresso/concoctions all in one row? It looks off with the blank space under the Filters Coffee but it doesn’t look as off as my grid page

I downloaded a VM and did some testing, and I found the cause of the issue. Different browsers are calculating the column width differently. I will file a bug, but in the meantime you can try this:
.pique-grid-three article { float: left; width: 30%; width: calc(-26.67 + 33.33%); }If that still doesn’t work, try -27 (no rounding to worry about).
Let me know if that fixes it for you. It worked here in my VM.
-
You Are Brilliant!!
That worked to resolve the grid issue- amazing.
I am so very grateful :) -
-
I was having the exact same three-column issue with Pique while using Microsoft Edge, and this solution worked perfectly for me as well, so thank you very much! I really appreciate it! :)

Thanks for reporting this, @raggedyrose! This issue should now be fixed in the theme, too.
Cheers!
