A Few More Questions Before I Take the Plunge

    Hello WordPress Support,

    I recently received very helpful answers from support to a number of newbie questions. Thank you. I have just a few more before I proceed to pay for my blog.

    Privacy and Anonymity:
    I’m not paranoid; I read the news. The threats and violence out there are disturbing. I want to blog under a pseudonym. I’m communicating with WordPress through my anonymous email account. To pay for my site, I will need to give you my real name, credit card info, and perhaps more.
    #1. Are there any circumstances in which my name and contact information could be revealed to the public?
    #2. If I have a contact form in my blog, does this reveal who I am other than my site name?
    #3. A YouTube video mentioned paying for “domain privacy.” What is it? Is it useful or necessary? If so, do you offer it?

    Payment Increments:
    #4. I’m not clear. Can I pay monthly, or is the Personal $4 per month plan only paid yearly? I haven’t gotten to that screen yet.

    Self-design vs a Theme:
    #5. Is it possible for me to set up my own simplistic site starting from the Hello World! page by using available tools and features, or am I required to use an offered Theme? I heard that there are thousands of Themes to search through. I only want an ultra-minimalist blog home page as described below:

    Title: Flight of Imagination
    Name: By John Penn
    Menu: Home About the Author Contact
    Blog list field: A single vertical field in the middle of the page listing blog title links. I’d prefer that this list would display immediately upon the home page loading without having to click a button to get to it.

    That’s it—no images or even outlines around the blog list box or the menu buttons. And a full-page, solid background of light green. Maybe a small, soaring bird image. Is this so simple that I could do it myself using available tools without needing to select a Theme? If I must use a Theme, can you help me by directing me to the one that would best fit my preferences from among the alleged thousands?

    This does not.

    This is a feature that hides the contact details of who purchased the domain. This is applied by default on WordPress.com. There’s more information regarding this here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-registrations-and-privacy/
