A few suggestions about the upcoming 2.7 upgrade here
-
1. As with all upgrades, there is going to be a time period where things are not stable. Give the upgrade time to migrate through the system. It may take several hours for things to settle down. It may take up to a day. No one knows for sure.
2. Take some time to familiarize your self with the new interface. Some of the menu titles for the different sections have changed. In other words a few things may be under different menu titles. Taking a little time to familiarize yourself with the new interface and where things are will make your transition much easier.
I think when all is said and done and you have a chance to work with the new interface for a little time, you will find that it is easier to get around in and will make your blogging easier. My only wish was that this interface has showed up when the last big upgrade happened, but I’m glad to see it coming now regardless. I’ve been working with the beta version on my self-hosted test blog for several weeks and like it. As with everything though, your mileage may vary.

Well said and here’s the link to the wordpress 2.7 demo site http://wp.chrisjohnston.org/

Give it time. One great thing about it is the ability to customize the look of many of the pages and decided for your self what is shown and where it goes.
Also, make sure to do as the big yellow sticky at the top of the forums state and log out, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your browser and then log back in. The login page should look new since it has changed a little in look.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Perhaps we can get them to add it shortly. I expect it is just an oversight.

Right now, the upgrade feels like “Rosie Live.” Hopefully, it won’t feel like that in a couple of days. :)

Hi, I just signed in to my “Stats” page, and am wondering, is it possible to have the old interface instead of the new one? I really dislike the 3-column layout, is it at least possible to move the first column to the top, and have two columns beneath? Thanks for listening.

Also, I have longer titles, and on my “edit posts” page the post title is squeezed into a really narrow column that allow 1-2 words; is it possible to move/ change column width? Otherwise it’s very difficult to read the titles.

No forum link in the dashboard. Ugh.
It’s under the “Help” tab (next to the “Screen Options” tab)

The main problem I have with 2.7 so far is that the “insert image” button on the editor (which was perfect about three versions ago and keeps getting more complicated and less usable every time there’s an upgrade) now defaults to the “upload” page instead of “From URL.” There should at least be an option to set the default to upload from URL, since all of my photos are hosted on Photobucket.
And they also haven’t fixed the issue where images inserted in full screen edit mode will always be inserted at the top of the post instead of where they’re supposed to be.

All I see under Help is a link to the support page, which then has a link to the forum; I liked the direct link.
I don’t know if I’m missing something, but I don’t see a link to the main stats page anywhere.

Omarmodesto – sorry, I’m still a bit confused. Looking at my dashboard, I just see the WP logo, the dashboard link, and my user id, which take me to my profile page. Am I looking in the right place? Thanks.
