    Dear WP,

    Kudos for adding markdown support. I especially like that it works so well with post by email. But it needs a little tweaking, imho.

    Markdown is not supported in excerpts. The author is required to use HTML. Also, there is no support for alphabetically ordered lists. And lastly (for now), markdown has difficulty displaying things like ampersaand hash 8364 semi-colon verbatim in code blocks.

    Most blogging involves entered some text, some links, some images, and perhaps a bullet point. Markdown is meant to reduce the effort to use HTML for common tags. It is not meant to replace *ALL* HTML tags.

    It’s meant to complement. You don’t need to use Markdown. You can continue using whatever you use now.
