a friend is having trouble posting comments on my blog since last week
-
my friend doesn’t have a wordpress account and is getting a message that her email address is associated with a WordPress account & that she has to sign in.
the problem is she doesn’t have a WordPress or Gravatar account!
help please!

The new system only checks for email addresses attached to WordPress.com or Gravatar accounts.
I recommend that she head over to http://wordpress.com/ or http://en.gravatar.com/ and use the Forgot Password link to recover her password. She doesn’t need to know her username. If she enters her email address, it will send both her username and instructions to reset her password.

but what if she doesn’t want a WordPress accoint? I am getting pushed into opening a Google account if I want to post on Blogger & I really don’t want to!!!

Well, seeing the error means that she already has one.
She won’t be able to comment with an email address attached to a WordPress.com or Gravatar account without logging in first.
-
this is one of those Catch 22 situations, she doesn’t and has never had a WordPress account!
-
Would you please ask her to try the Forgot Password links at http://wordpress.com/ and http://en.gravatar.com/ ?
I can almost guarantee you that she has an account at one of those two locations.

this is what my friend wrote back when she tried-
“thanks for the info. when i try to log in to gravatar and send ‘forgot password’, they don’t give me my password, they just allow me to set a new one, so it seems like they are just trying to get you to sign up. i’ll keep that info and see what happens. i really don’t want to sign up for something i don’t know enough about. thanks for all the info. i might wind up doing it after i learn some more.”
it is a worry & definitely a catch 22 situation, is there anyway to override the robot so I can allow her to post on my blog? -
Yes, the reset password link allows the user to set a new password, so that does mean that she definitely has a Gravatar account.
She won’t be able to comment with that email address without being logged into the Gravatar account.
