a hacker took my account and blog

Someone has hacked into my hotmail and taken over the blog that I created for my college class. They changed the user name and password. I can’t get into my own blog now. They changed the user name. The only way I got here was to click on the email from wordpress in my email.

Blogs do not get hacked unless you fail to follow security protocols.
Who has access to your login information?
Did you use the same password for your email account and your blog?
Are you sharing log-in information with anyone or leaving it where anyone can locate it?
Is your password a weak one that others can easily guess?
Are you remaining logged in on your computer so anyone can come along and access your blog through it?
Are you using a wifi connection and not using the https:// login?Go to your email program and change the password to a very difficult one because that’s how many hackers gain access to blogs.

1. If you can log-in go here > Users > All Users and delete any user that does not belong there.
2. Disable post by email > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-by-email/
3. Disable post by voice > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-by-voice/
4. Change your blog password to a very difficult one > http://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/#change-your-password
5. Use a secure, encrypted connection to connect to your Dashboard. Under Users → Personal Settings, check the box that says “Always use HTTPS when visiting administration pages, and click Save Changes.

My user name is gaylebenjamin and that is what used to be displayed.
My hotmail address is (email visible only to moderators and staff). I created the blog for gaylesedu255.wordpress.com/wp-admin.Now someone has taken it over and changed the display to g4music2014. I can’t get into my blog anymore. I made this blog as a college assignment.

I was at a college using their isp access, and not at home. My prof has my login info as needed. I unfortunately did use the same password for the blog as for my hotmail account. I thought I had a strong password. No one has accessed my computer other than me. I have been on a wifi connection at all points. I never made the user name g4music2014. That was someone else. I will follow the directions you sent. Thanks.

Thanks for the added information. Please understand what follows. Staff work through all forum threads tagged for their attention and through all email support tickets in order of datestamps and timestamps – first posted first served, as would be expected.
When bloggers keep bumping any thread thinking they are going to get service from Staff more quickly they aren’t thinking straight because that moves the timestamps forward and it takes longer to get a response. The same is true if you email more than once the date moves forward and it takes longer to get help.
Bottom line: Patience is virtue.Staff work through all forum threads tagged for their attention and through all email support tickets in order of datestamps and timestamps – first posted first served, as would be expected.

Actually, since you say you don’t have access to your hotmail email address anymore, I’ll just reply here. The user account and blog you’ve reported as hacked have not had any changes made to them since they were created. I think that you might have accidentally created two separate user accounts.
The blog owned by the g4music2014 user account that you’re logged into in this thread is this blog:
http://gaylesedu255.wordpress.com/The second user account is associated with the gmail address and the other username you mention, and that account owns this blog: http://benjamingayle.wordpress.com/
There also haven’t been any changes made to that username/email/blog since it was created.
Does that clear things up?
If you need to change your hotmail address now that it’s been compromised, you can go here and change it: https://wordpress.com/settings/account/
Note that you can’t change it to that gmail address because you’re already using that for the other WordPress.com account. If you’re trying to access that account, log out as g4music2014 and log in as gaylebenjamin
