A letter for personal support but forwarded to forum

    Hello,

    I did not have access to my email address through the summer due to the university webmail accounts being compromised. The spam attacks were on going and we were not allowed to access our accounts until today, when the problem was resolved.

    This meant i couldn’t access my wordpress website – i had forgotten my wordpress password and couldn’t get into the email account that the replacement password email was sent to.

    For this reason i was unaware of my domain name needing to be renewed and I received no alerts via alternative methods such as text, other email address.

    As you can imagine this was extrmely frustrating and i hope you could have a little mercy on me due to the circumstances and waive the late fee, allowing me to pay the original price of £15 to renew my domain name.

    not sure how to resolve this so any help/advice is welcomed

    Your circumstances are irrelevant. Read this whole support doc so your are well informed. Please understand that wordpress.COM does not set redemption fee and cannot waive it for or for anyone because they are not the domain registrar. The domain registrar is wild west domains and they can choose to sell your domain name to whoever they want because you do not own it any more. They own it.

    Luckily you are https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/#grace-period within the grace period and staff may be able to retrieve it for you. As for not paying the domain mapping fee there’s no way that’s going to happen.
