A little bit lost…..

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there,

    I am wanting to be able to edit the theme code and am unsure of how to open the editor. The css editor seems to only allow additional information. If this is not possible I think my upgrade to ‘premium’ is not going to be worth it. How do I go about getting a refund?

    We cannot access and edit templates here at wordpress.COM so be crystal clear on that.

    This is a multiuser blogging platform. Every blog wearing the same theme uses the same template found on the live demo site for the theme. There is no upgrade that allows template editing.

    You can retain the domain URL, and get a refund for the remainder of the upgrade, and then move your content into a wordpress.ORG install.

    Know that if you cancel your domain, there is no guarantee that you will be able to reacquire it in the future. Someone else could gain access to it so if you want to keep it and use it on another site please let Staff know that.

    I tagged this thread with modlook in the sidebar for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

    You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard, cancel an upgrades, claim a refund for any qualified upgrades, and disable auto-renew.

    WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers. The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours.

    Note: It takes from 1 – 2 weeks for the refund to be received.

    Provided you are logged in under the same username account that purchased the upgrade, and you are within the allowed time frame for refunds, you can cancel and request a refund from your dashboard > Store > My Upgrades. You can also disable auto-renew there. http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#canceling-upgrades

    Hey nihilismplus!

    What code do you want to edit on your theme?

  • Unknown's avatar

    @tylerzika
    Exactly why are you posting here please and asking that question?

    WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins (passwords), features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

    If nihilismplus moves to wordpress.ORG, registers a username account at WordPress.ORG account http://wordpress.org/support/ on the top right-hand corner of the page that opens at https://wordpress.org/support/register.php then they can post to the support forums there because wordpress.ORG templates can be edited by users but wordpress.COM templates cannot be edited by users.

    Please ignore what tylerzika posted. Read what I posted for you above and wait patiently for Staff assistance.

    @timethief Thanks for the reply. I think I have been confused about the difference between ORG and COM.

    If I want a refund how do I go about it?

  • Hi there,

    You should be able to cancel your Premium Plan yourself for a full refund on the Purchases page:
    http://wordpress.com/purchases/

    I have unlinked your domain from your plan so it won’t cancel your domain as well.

    If you cancel your domain you might not be able to register it again to use somewhere else, so I recommend that you don’t cancel your domain but leave it registered here. You can then map it to a different host once you get a hosting account for your site.

    Let me know if you need more help with this.

    Thanks @timetheif for the information. Very informative! I posted here because I’m trying to learn and be helpful.

    @tylerzika
    Hi again,
    It’s in everyone’s best interest if you do not post into any thread unless or until you have:
    confirmed the URL and where the site is hosted ie. by wordpress.COM;
    used tag search and Google search;
    can backlink to recent correct responses by Staff or experienced Volunteers in any comment you post.

    That’s because 30% of those who post here are posting about sites that are not hosted here, but many will argue that wordpress.COm is their site’s web host, when that’s not true. More to the point they do not know the differences between wop.com hosted site and wp.org installs on paid hosting.

    The bottom line is that bloggers who post here expect to get correct answers quickly and our role is to see that happens.

    I suggest that you lurk and read responses from myself, Staff, justjennifer and auxclass, and become adept at using search utilities for at least 3 months because providing quick and accurate support is not something one can learn to do quickly.

    P.S. I have answered questions here for over 9 years. I predate the support docs and all support staff being on staff except for one. I hate having to tailgate every new Staff wannbe’s threads and correct their incorrect or incomplete answers. I don’t have the time to do that and multitask from work too, so please don’t post unless you are 100% sure what you’re posting is correct and can be backed up with links to recent correct responses by Staff or experienced Volunteers.

    Lastly, never use my copy and paste answers as if they are your own. Create new ones in your own words or backlink to mine.

    Oops! wop.com hosted site was meant to be a wp.com hosted site.

    P.S. Happy New Year!

    Please overlook the exchange between myself and tylerzika and remain focused on what kokkieh (Staff) posted above at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/a-little-bit-lost?replies=11#post-2525212
