A lot of sex links in a my “Clicks” section.

Earlier on today, I checked the “clicks” section in my stats; I had two, and both linked to porn sites. This had happened to me twice before, in the space of a few months. I reported them, and the blogs got deleted.
Again, today, I reported both these links, and the blogs got suspended.

When I rechecked my stats a few hours later, there was another one. However, this one links to an actual blog, which appears to be about erotic fiction.
I have no problem with erotica whatsoever, but I’d rather not have it featured on my blog. I don’t feel like it being flagged as “mature”.

My blog is not a porn one whatsoever. I do crack the odd sex joke, but have no sex-related tags, so I’m really confused about this.
I mean, thrice in one day… Where the hell do these links come from? I’m unable to locate where they are posted. I’ve checked my latest comments, and it’s not there. I’ve checked my latest “possibly related posts”. Not there. I know that the “possibly related posts” feature has been problematic in the past, but lately, my related posts have turned out to actually be related to the contents of my posts, and I’ve gained a little traffic from them.

So what do I do with this last sex link? I hesitate to report it, because it seems to be a genuine blog, instead of just spam. I don’t want to come across as a whiny, prudish pain in the backside, but at the same time, I’d like my blog to be free of this type of content. As I said, I don’t want to lose whatever little traffic I get by having my blog flagged as mature.

Is there any way to prevent this from happening in the future?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Your visitors are clicking on links which are generated via “possibly related….” feature.

I’ve checked the “Possibly related posts” from my newest posts, and as far as I know, they are all related to my posts.
It wasn’t the case a few months ago, but lately, it’s worked out for me, and I’ve found some pretty interesting blogs related to mine, via this feature.

Is there any way to identify exactly where these links are posted?

You may search your own blog to see if they’re part of your blog (I don’t know if search goes through the comments to see if they’re coming from your comments as people link their blog with user names and if those links are clicked than your stat would register it).

The outbound clicked links in your stats are either through 1) your blog post, 2) comments/links, and 3) possibly related feature.

Thanks for trying to help. :)

I’ve tried your suggestion (mind you, I don’t know if I did it right: I’ve pasted the link in my blog’s search box, but it returned no results.

I then used Google’s “search site” feature to no avail either…

I’ll disable the “possibly related posts” feature, if that is where these links come from, but I wish I didn’t have to. As I said, this feature has proved useful lately.

If I decided to just live with these links, what would happen? Would my blog eventually get slapped with a mature” label?

I think it would be unfair if anyone tags your blog mature because of the uncontrolled third party links through a possibly related feature.

I look at it this way: if I’m blogging (using keywords) about something which I don’t prefer to see than I actually shouldn’t be blogging about it (at the same time I have the possibly related feature on).

Keywords? I know I’m gonna come across as a complete noob, but I’m still not clear on what they are.

Arifsali, just wanted to add that the funny cartoons that you posted on your blog are hysterical! :)

Keywords for example, if you are using words like bitch, sex, nudity etc than the possibly related feature is finding you links of other blogs accordingly.

There is a plugin that automatically links to blogs that are related to the post topic. I get weird links almost every day lately.

Turn off the related links and make your own. Keep visitors on your site longer reading your material and not sending them to a different blog that may or may not have a “related post”

@salomey5-Turn off possibly related posts http://support.wordpress.com/related-posts/ but, of course, you lose any potential traffic coming in that way too. And FWIW-if a blog is marked as “mature” it is normally reviewed by staff as well.

@ecojack-no plugins on WordPress.COM blogs. Your blog appears to be self-hosted (and if you need support for your blog, you need to seek help over at http://wordpress.org/support/ )

    @theplainblog

I, too, used to think that possibly related links would take traffic away from my blog, and it was a while before I activated them. So far the experience has been the reverse, with a substantial increase in traffic. Would that have happened without PRLs? Dunno, but I’d like to think it’s my golden prose ;-) The increase – 100% or more, month on month – seems rather a lot to be accounted for by a few random links that aren’t always generated anyway.

I’m not aware that I’ve had any porn links, though unless anyone complains I’m not overly bothered by the prospect or minded to check it out.
