A New Post to a Specific Menu?

  • Unknown's avatar

Is it possible for me to write a post and have it go to a specific menu instead of my front page?

For example, on my blog http://www.fancythatfancythis.com I want to be able to add posts to my “Book Reviews” section without it hitting my homepage. I’d also prefer it not to part of my RSS Feed. Is this possible?

    Thanks in advance!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No. All posts by default show on the main “blog” page. To arrange posts under certain subjects, you use categories. Categories can then be put into the top navigation using a custom menu. You can then if you wish set a static front page for your site so that no posts show on that page and anyone wanting to see posts can then click on the categories you have in the top navigation.

You can also, as is covered in above support page on “front-page” create a blog page which again you can put into the top navigation so if people just want to peruse your posts in order independent of the categories they can.

Please note what TSP has posted. My comment here is focused on display of your Categories in the horizontal menu of your blog. These are the how-to instructions:

    1. You create a custom menu. http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

    2. You add the Categories you want to display and arrange them in the order you want.

    3. Then you add and drop and drag the sub-categories below the appropriate Categories, and when you have everything arranged in the menu that you want you save the menu.

    4. Go to the “theme location” module at upper left on the menu page. Select your custom menu name from the pull-down labeled “primary location.” Click the save button in that module.

Note: If you wish you can also include pages and sub-pages of your own choice and custom links in your custom menu as well.
